School founding date
In the year 1855, studies began in the new school thanks to the
generous donations of the people of the neighborhood, and the school received
the children of the poor and the rich in adjacent classes. In the year 1858 Said
Pasha Khedive of Egypt gave the monks a plot of land in the Al-Kharnafash
(Gamaliya) neighborhood in Cairo, to build a school, which was named Saint
Joseph School. In the year 1864, Khedive Ismail sent 12 young men of the upper
family, to receive education at St. Joseph School in Al-Kharnafash, with the aim
of preparing them to occupy some of the main jobs in the state. And with the
year 1890 the law department was opened, in the year 1907 the department of
commerce was opened at Al-Kharnafash School, and in 1919 in the Egyptian
revolution, the two leaders, Saad Zagloul and Mustafa Kamel, were students of
Saint Joseph School. The year 1956 is the year of the transfer of the secondary
section from St. Joseph School in Al-Kharnafash to the School of De La Salle in
Al-Zahir, and de La Salle is the name of St. John de La Salle, founder of the
Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (Al-Farr), who put his
knowledge at the service of the poor, left his home and lived with the teachers
He relinquished his position as a priest, and squandered his fortune to found a
brotherhood. In 1957, Al-Kharnafash School included nursery, primary and
preparatory students from schools at nominal expenses, and this is still present
today, and in 1994 the vocational training center was opened at Saint Joseph
School. Dr. Hussein Bahaa El-Din, the former Minister of Education, opened in
1995 the new building of St. Joseph School in El-Kharnafash, and in 1999 the
secondary section was opened.

The school is located on 1 Al Shaarani Al Barani Street on the
corner of Al Kharanfash Street in the Al Jamaliah District in Cairo. On Al
Shaarani Street the Great Sufi Mosque Abdel Wahab Al Shaarani and Al Kharanfash
Street, Dar Al Kiswa Al Musharafa. Port Said Street and attached to it, the
Freire Association for the care and training of workers and
craftsmen.
The school currently has education stages until
the end of secondary school (kindergarten - primary - middle - secondary, and it
has two sections, French and English
